5 injured in serious car crash in Phoenix

Serious car crashes are tragedies; however, when they happen during the holiday season, they seem even more horrific. For five people in Phoenix, a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, Dec. 27, means they will spend New Year’s Eve recuperating from their injuries.

The accident occurred near Highland Avenue on 27th Avenue. While police have not said exactly how the accident occurred, they did say that both drivers were transported to local hospitals in critical condition.

Three other victims of the collision were taken to area trauma centers and are listed in stable condition. However, the crash was so serious that emergency responders had to extricate two victims from what was left of the vehicles.

The drivers of the vehicles were an 18-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. The other victims were a 27-year-old man, a 55-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman. Police have not indicated if alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash.

When a negligent or reckless driver causes a serious car crash involving several people, he or she may face personal injury lawsuits in addition to any criminal charges that may be filed. Criminal charges are not required for a civil suit to be filed against the at-fault driver, although a conviction can provide additional evidence in favor of the plaintiffs.

If you have been seriously injured in a car crash that was not your fault, you have a right to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, emotional distress and more. An experienced attorney can provide more information on how to proceed and what your legal options are.
