The most reckless things you can do behind the wheel

Everyone knows that driving is a risky and potentially dangerous activity; nevertheless, navigating traffic in a motor vehicle is a necessary part of most of our lives. For this reason, we all need to make sure that we're driving as safely as possible, and that means being attentive, responsible, well-rested and following the rules of the road.

From the perspective of safe driving practices, there are several things that you should never do behind the wheel if you want to decrease your chances of getting into a crash and increasing your chances of surviving one. These "no-go" activities are:

Eating: It's tempting to eat a fast-food meal while driving to work in the morning, but this time-saving activity could cost you or someone else their life.

Road-raging: When you get angry behind the wheel, you stop thinking rationally and you could act out of rage to dangerously cut someone off or take other kinds of risks that might result in a collision.

Over-reaching: You know you put your keys, notebook or smartphone somewhere, but reaching around your car while driving is a sure-fire way to cause a catastrophic accident. Moreover, you shouldn't be looking at these items in the first place!

Texting or "Facebooking": It's vital for your safety to keep your cellphone out of reach and off limits while operating a motor vehicle. Smartphones cause numerous deadly accidents every year.

If you want more ideas of things you shouldn't do, use your common sense. If you think it could hinder your focus or concentration while operating a vehicle: Don't do it! By driving safe like this, you will avoid potential accidents and you will also avoid becoming liable for causing a motor vehicle crash and injuries to your passengers and others on the road.
