2 riders in motorcycle group crash in Arizona

For many motorcycle riders, part of the allure is riding in a group. They like the social atmosphere this offers. It’s a way to meet new people and spend time with friends. In this sense, it’s far less about having another transportation option to get from Point A to Point B than the experience of riding itself.

Unfortunately, this also comes with some serious risks, as two bikers in Arizona recently found out.

A motorcycle group was heading down Miller Road, near Interstate 10. They were close to the town of Buckeye and a Love’s Travel Stop at about 7:30 a.m. on May 19. That’s when two of the motorcycles crashed. Their riders were thrown to the street.

Both of them initially survived the crash. Police said that one was talking and alert, while the other suffered severe injuries. The emergency crews rushed both of them to a local medical center. However, the one who had been more seriously injured was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

While the police did not give out the riders’ names, a spokesperson did say that the other rider was expected to survive. Authorities closed down the road to investigate the incident.

When riding in a group, you take on extra risks because one mistake by another rider can cause an accident you cannot avoid. In that sense, your safety depends on everyone else’s skill and ability on the bike, — not just your own. If someone does cause an accident that leads to serious injuries, make sure you understand all of the legal options you have.
