The incident began when a bus reached the railroad crossing and stopped. A local city council candidate stopped behind the bus to wait for it to cross the tracks. However, a Jeep Wrangler behind the candidate did not stop. It slammed into the first vehicle and shoved it directly under the school bus.
Pictures from the scene show that the Wrangler pushed the other vehicle so far that the Wrangler almost hit the bus’s bumper. It is truly a frightening scene. If there is any saving grace, it is that the first car was stopped to the left of the bus. It was driven under the bus, but the driver’s side is not as far under as the passenger side.
The 52-year-old man who was driving that car lived through the accident. He is dealing with serious back pain and wearing a neck brace. He said he’s happy that he lived and that he’s still trying to process the traumatic incident.
