Tesla hits parked fire truck, killing woman

One woman is dead after a car accident on a freeway in Arizona. She was riding in a Tesla that slammed into a fire truck parked on the left-hand side of the road.

Reports indicate that a first crash took place right around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29. It was just a single-vehicle wreck, and it happened close to the Mile 38 marker on I-70. That crash spurred a call to the Cloverdale Fire Department, who responded by sending emergency vehicles to the scene.

When the emergency vehicles arrived, including the fire truck, they stopped in the passing lane. They turned on their emergency lights. Cars could still go by on the right.

However, the male driver of a 2019 Tesla came up behind the emergency vehicles and "failed to notice" them. The car plowed into the back of the firetruck. The 25-year-old driver suffered serious injuries, as did the 23-year-old woman who was his passenger.

Both people were rushed to the hospital. The young women eventually ended up at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, but she was pronounced deceased while there.

Police are investigating the crash to see why it happened. They do not think drugs and alcohol played a role. They also said that none of the first responders, who were there for the first crash, got hurt in the secondary accident.

Have you lost a loved one in a car accident? All it takes is a split-second of inattention or a minor driving mistake. Make sure you know what legal rights you may have to seek out financial compensation.
