A 4th pedestrian dies months after a Fountain Hills SUV crash

| Jun 15, 2018 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

The final one of four pedestrians who were struck by a 27-year-old motorist when his sports utility vehicle (SUV) jumped the curb crashing into them has now also died. The sad news was shared with the public in a press release issued by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, June 12, the same day that the victim also died.

On March 13, a Canadian man and his wife, both 60 years old, were walking alongside another couple, a 71-year-old female and 72-year-old male, both residents of Wever, Iowa. As they were doing so, the SUV crashed into them.

It appears that all victims died immediately from the initial impact of the crash with the exception of the Canadian man.

On the day of the incident, emergency crews whisked him away to the Phoenix hospital where he remained in a medically induced coma in its intensive care unit for a period of time. He was later stabilized enough to be transported home to his native Calgary, Alberta. He expired at a hospital there from what his doctors have said were both severe internal and head injuries.

Police have yet to announce what they believe led the motorist to jump the curb crashing into the four pedestrians.

The motorist who stands accused of having caused the fatal crash hasn’t yet been charged with any crimes. Police noted this past Wednesday that they haven’t yet ruled out prosecuting him for this role in killing the four pedestrians.

If you’ve lost loved ones after they’ve been struck by a negligent motorist, a Maricopa motor vehicle accidents attorney can advise you of your right to file a wrongful death lawsuit to recover funeral costs and other expenses.
