How often do dogs bite?

You recently got a job as a package delivery driver. You enjoy the work. You spend your time driving all over Maricopa and bringing people an endless string of items purchased on the internet.

One thing you worry about, though, is getting bitten by a dog. Throughout the course of your day, it seems like every dog in the homes you visit wants to bark at you. They all sound aggressive. While most of the time it's just a dog barking harmlessly through a window, you do encounter dogs on tethers and simply kept behind a fence. What are the odds that one of these animals will attack you?

They may be better than you realize. For instance, some studies claim that one person out of every 69 individuals in the United States gets bitten per year. That's about 4.7 million bites in a calendar year. While some are minor, about 800,000 cause people to seek out medical assistance after the attack.

When looking at these overall statistics, keep in mind that you are especially vulnerable in your line of work. Most people in the United States have a relatively low level of exposure to dogs they do not know. You encounter them every single day, over and over again. You could get injured as a result. All it takes is one time.

If you do get bitten by a dog, whether you are on the job or not, make sure you are well aware of all of the legal options you have to seek out financial compensation for your medical bills and other costs.
