Alleged DUI accident takes 2 lives in Tucson

A car accident on Saturday, Feb. 29, took two lives in Tucson, Arizona. The driver that caused the accident survived and was arrested after the crash on suspicion of impaired driving.

The wreck took place right around 11:00 p.m. One car was heading east when it reached an intersection where another vehicle, this one an SUV, was going west. The eastbound car hit the westbound SUV.

A man was driving the SUV, and he suffered serious injuries. He did live through the crash, though, and the emergency crews rushed him to the hospital.

However, he had two passengers in the SUV with him. One was a 41-year-old woman, and the other was a 24-year-old woman. They suffered such severe injuries that the police department reported that they passed away at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle, the one that apparently caused the crash, only had minor injuries. He is 26-years-old. He was brought to the hospital for treatment, and then he was arrested. He faces charges for driving under the influence, criminal damage, aggravated assault and a pair of counts for second-degree murder.

All it takes is one driver who is willing to risk it and drive under the influence for multiple people to suffer serious injuries or lose their lives. These types of crashes are far too common, and there does not appear to be any end in sight when looking at crash trends.

As such, those who do get hurt or who lose loved ones need to know what legal options they have.
