It is no secret that intersections remain a hotspot for dangerous collisions. Even with traffic lights and signs to help control the flow of traffic in these areas, there may still be some level of risk involved, especially if drivers fail to adhere to them. One person died and up to seven others suffered injuries during a recent car accident that is said to have taken place under similar circumstances in Arizona.
Crash at intersection
Law enforcement agents advised that they responded to reports of the crash at around 4:30 a.m. on a recent Monday morning. An investigation of the incident suggests that it took place when for reasons unknown the driver of a westbound van suddenly ran through a red light. The van proceeded to collide with a nearby pickup truck soon thereafter.
Reports indicate that there were up to seven people in the truck at the time of the crash, each of whom was taken to a hospital for medical care. One of these individuals is reportedly being treated for life-threatening injuries. Authorities also advised that the driver who caused the crash suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information was provided as to what might have caused this person to run through the red light, as the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
