Impairment and failure to yield can be a dangerous combination

The presence of impairment and failure to yield right of way remain two of the most common causes of collisions. Drivers who fail to yield right of way at intersections run a greater risk of creating dangerous scenarios and those who drive while under the influence may be more susceptible to exhibiting similar forms of negligence. A recent car accident involving similar circumstances has reportedly left up to three individuals in Arizona with injuries.

Intersection accident

Reports indicate that the crash occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on a recent Sunday. Authorities say it began when the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield right of way upon approaching an intersection. The driver of a second vehicle was apparently unable to react in time to steer to safety and proceeded to crash into the truck shortly after it passed into the intersection.

The impact of the crash caused the truck to roll over and collide with a third vehicle shortly thereafter. Authorities say that up to three people suffered injuries in the crash, two of whom were airlifted to a medical facility for treatment of serious injuries. Reportedly, an investigation into the incident indicates that failure to yield and driver impairment were contributing factors in the crash.

Hazards of a crash

It might come as no surprise that suffering serious injuries in a car accident involving an impaired driver could prove a difficult thing to accept. Those who encounter similar challenges in life and wish to seek insight into their available legal avenues might consider consulting with an attorney for advice on the best course of action to take. An attorney in Arizona can evaluate the incident, along with a client’s injuries and financial needs, and assist in preparing to seek the restitution deserved through a personal injury claim.
